Intensive Phonics at Home Sample Reading Lessons
Intensive Phonics at Home
for ages 4- 9, includes instruction in phonics and emphasizes consonant
sounds individually. This colorful and engaging software moves at a young child's
pace.
The following sample reading lesson downloads are meant to provide a brief overview
of the Discover Intensive Phonics at Home software. These lessons have been pulled
out of the context of the course, and would normally be prefaced with sequential
instruction covering all previous aspects.
INSTRUCTIONS: Click the links below to download sample reading lessons. Save them
to your desktop if asked. Once the download has completed, double-click the file
to open it. The file will be decompressed, and then it will launch. The sample lesson
will play. To exit, click the File menu, and select 'Quit', or click the red 'X'
in the upper right corner of the window.

Reading Lesson 16
This lesson teaches the consonant P, and words that use P.
Up to this point, students have learned several consonants and vowels. They have
also learned how to slide from a consonant to a vowel, and how to begin forming
three letter words. The marking system has been introduced as students place an
X underneath the vowels.

This lesson teaches the fifth of the 5 Phonetic Skills.
Students have now learned all of the consonants and vowels, and know how to form
words. They have also learned the S, L, and R blends. Students are now ready to
be introduced to the 5 Phonetic Skills which teach them when a vowel will be long
or short.

Students have now learned how to form all kinds of single consonant words, and can
now prove them using the 5 Phonetic Skills. Now they are ready to learn the 2 Decoding
Skills that teach them how to divide words into syllables.
