1. Improve your listening skills. Take the time to listen to your child every day
  2. Show an increase of love, especially after you have disciplined your child
  3. Look for and encourage their strengths, interests, and abilities. Help them to use these as compensations for any limitations or disabilities
  4. Reward your children with words of praise and smiles
  5. Take some time before you give an answer. Be realistic in your expectations and demands
  6. Get organized and involve your child in establishing, schedules, structure and rules
  7. Demonstrate how to correct mistakes by showing or demonstrating what to do
  8. Teach responsibility by giving your child chores to do everyday – follow through to make certain that they do them
  9. Read together! Improve comprehension by asking questions and then reread the story again
  10. Improve concentration by reducing all environmental distractions. Provide dedicated spaces to work, study and play
  11. Take your child to libraries often – if possible, weekly
  12. Make certain that there are always get books and reading materials around the house
  13. Children develop inner self-worth by learning to compete with self rather than with others
  14. Provide your child with a chance to serve others at home and in the community
  15. Make certain that your child has every opportunity to love reading - give them the tools they need
